Levels

SILVER

Designed for the Youth Level coach or as an introduction to Mental Skills Training, the silver level requires one book to be read (or dvd watched) and approximately six (6) hours of additional written assignments, discussion, and a final oral examination.

Professional Development Hours Earned: 6 CEUs

GOLD

Designed for the professional coach, the Gold Level Certified Positive Coach is for the coach who wants something similar to a graduate level class in Applied Sport Psychology (100% applied specifically to your situation!). This program will tackle the challenging issues of motivation, dealing effectively with stress and pressure, and working effectively with challenging personalities. It will also teach the thought patterns of the most successful athletes in the world, both at practice and in competition. It requires one book to be read (and/or dvd watched), one workbook to be utilized, and approximately 20 hours of additional written assignments, discussion, application with targeted individuals, plus a final oral examination. Partial completion of this program will usually result in a silver certification and coaches who already have a silver certification may apply those hours to this program.

Professional Development Hours Earned: 20 CEUs

PLATINUM

Designed for the professional coach who wants to leave no stone unturned in his or her efforts to be the best they can be at their craft, the Platinum Level Certified Positive Coach is a Master of teaching mental skills. This is for any coach already certified at the Gold Level looking to work closely with Coach Traub to refine communication skills, coaching strategies, motor learning techniques, and thinking patterns in their athletes. This elite coach will engage multiple athletes in one-on-one mental skills training and work with Coach Traub for a minimum of an additional 20 hours in discussion, written assignments, and a final oral examination.

Coach Traub’s Positive Coaching Certification Program

This program takes positive coaching and the toolbox of applied sport psychology in the style of Coach Traub’s Mental Skills Training to coaches who are in the field and on the court at the youth, high school, collegiate, and professional levels. The CoachTraub.com Performance Consulting mission is to over-deliver value on the goods and services we provide to help athletes ‘win’ the mental side of the game. The prospective Certified Positive Coach should agree with this mission and be excited about helping athletes get what they want from their efforts. This program teaches positive mental training distinctions that will help this happen faster!

Silver Level:

• Complete an application at www.CoachTraub.com/certificationapp.html.
• Pay a fee of $69 or host a Coach Traub Event (a Peak Performance Camp or a Performance Enhancement Seminar)
• Read Coaches Guide to Winning the Mental Game by Coach Traub or watch the 3-hour DVD that is inside the back cover of the book.
• Complete six short written quizzes based on coaching experiences and the book/dvd.
• Complete 3-4 private training sessions in person or by phone with Coach Traub, approximately 30 minutes each.
• Pass the oral final examination. The coach may retake this final exam until he or she passes it. A study guide for this will be provided at the beginning of the program.

Approximate Time Required to Complete Certification Program: 3 weeks. Maximum: 6 weeks.

Gold Level:

All requirements of the Silver Level, plus
• Utilize An Elite Athlete's Manual for Training Mental Skills by Coach Traub (Yourself or with an athlete you coach).
• Complete an additional 3-6 private training sessions in person or by phone with Coach Traub, approximately 30 minutes each.
• The oral “final” examination for this program is much more comprehensive than the Silver Level test, and it can be quite challenging. A study guide for this will be provided at the beginning of the program. Included on the exam are example case studies. The Gold Level Certified Positive Coach will have concrete strategies in place to work effectively with many challenging personalities and through many challenging situations. (Coach Traub looks forward to the exchange of ideas about coaching effectively through these common challenges. Learning will occur in both directions, but ultimately, the prospective certified coach must understand Coach Traub’s Mental Skills Training perspectives and be prepared to teach the thinking patterns of elite performers to obtain certification.)

Approximate Time Required to Complete Certification Program: 6-10 weeks. Maximum: 12 weeks.

Platinum Level:

***Pre-requisite: Gold Level Certification
Fee is an additional $159 or host a Coach Traub Event
All requirements of the Gold Level, plus
• Utilize An Elite Athlete's Manual for Training Mental Skills by Coach Traub or another awareness and strategic developmental program with a minimum of four total individual athletes.
• Practical application of relaxation training and guided imagery
• Practical application of team building activities
• Complete an additional 3-6 private training sessions in person or by phone with Coach Traub, approximately 60 minutes each.
• An in-depth discussion and oral examination about coaching mental skills. A study guide for this will be provided at the beginning of the program.

Approximate Time Required to Complete Certification Program: Gold Level Certification plus 4-8 weeks. Maximum: 12 weeks.
