BALANCE IS EVERYTHING!

Ironic Facts about the Mental Side of the Game

You have to care, but don’t try too hard!

It’s all about making adjustments, but the worst thing you can do is think too much.

Always strive to improve, but avoid the perfectionist tendency to beat yourself up for every mistake.  At the same time, you must balance this fact with the fact that…

You want to maintain high confidence, but avoid complacency.

Relatedly, you should be super confident, but not at all cocky.

Hustle and be quick, but don’t hurry.

Be enthusiastic, but not over-excited or nervous.

Be a team player, but play for yourself first and foremost.

Always be aggressive, but ABSOLUTELY DO NOT force it or try to make it happen.

Be humble, but not deferent.

Strive to be the best you can be, but avoid comparisons to others.

You want to give yourself the best chance possible to get the positive outcomes while not caring about things outside of your control.
